ABOUT THE ALDEIA DA VIDA

Join us and discover the medicines of the forest in a responsible space that works hand-in-hand with the true guardians of the majestic Amazon Rainforest, its wisdom and ancestral traditions.

Founded in 2019 by Leandro Valente and his wife, Isabelle Santos during the first Ayahuasca Nordeste gathering, Aldeia da Vida has a team of volunteer professionals from different areas, such as doctors, therapists, artists, engineers and people dedicated to ancestral traditions. Our institution serves hundreds of people every month, developing spiritual work and studies with Brazilian sacred medicines, such as Ayahuasca (Uni) and Rapé (RumÄ“).

Our events aim at valuing, studying and strengthening indigenous culture.

Over the years, we have developed retreats and immersion events alongside our partners and community, taking our spiritual studies beyond the he Yawanawá indigenous traditions, including ancient therapies from the East and science-based self-knowledge practices.

OUR HOME IN THE FOREST

Our home is located in Camaragibe, ~40 minutes from Recife International Airport in Pernambuco, Brazil. A 10-acre forest land with many medicinal trees and plants and a delightful natural mineral water stream perfect for bathing.

We offer simple, intimate and friendly hospitality. Our space has a shuhu (ceremonial shelter) for 120 people with three dry compost toilets, a large camping area and parking for ~40 cars. We have an atelier with a bathroom next to the shuhu with beds and space for mats, a swimming pool next to the eating area overlooking the forest and a "downhill" trail to the creek.

Alongside great friends and our community, we’re constantly cultivating our space with lots of love so that you can experience transformative moments and beautiful connections with the nature of our home and the enchanted forest.

MUTUM VILLAGE

Aldeia da Vida was born in an alliance with the spiritual leader of Mutum Village, Matsini Yawanawá. It is through this partnership and mentorship that the Aldeia da Vida team and our community continue to deepen our spiritual studies and strengthen the culture and tradition rooted in Mutum Village.

For centuries, the Yawanawás, the People of the Boar, have occupied the shores of the Gregório River, in Acre state. Today, there are over a thousand people living in nine villages along this river. They are dedicated to developing a sustainable way of life that allows them to cultivate and protect their lands and engage with the outside world without compromising their cultural and spiritual identities.

The Yawanawá People have worked tirelessly to care for their territory, reclaim their cultural roots and establish economic, political and social relationships with the world outside the forest. They grow and hunt their own food and live in wooden houses.

Their pharmacy is the forest itself. Due to a long history with the missionaries, part of their culture has been lost and devalued. However, today, they have restored much of their traditions and are so grateful and proud to be able to share them with our community and people across the planet!
